A LUNCHTIME EVENT: WEDNESDAY 16TH AT THE EUROPEAN ENVIRONMENT AGENCY, COPENHAGEN.
CHRONICLES OF ECOTOPIA: Telling stories about Sustainable Futures

It is becoming clear that we need an imagination revolution to create a new society. The role of creatives, designers and policymakers has never been more important - both in making this new society desirable and the nuts and bolts of making it work.

The Chronicles of Ecotopia is a film showing, followed by a discussion that explores the role of creating aspirational stories and visions of positive futures. Just as the ‘Futurama’, ‘Autotopia’ exhibitions defined much of the way we live in the 20th Century, moves are now underway to create the same collective positive vision for the 21st Century.

This event explores the latest thinking leading this imagination revolution.

We welcome your contribution to this conversation.

Why is this event important?

The event is about how we galvanise creative professionals, policymakers, big brands and social innovators to work together towards creating the innovative solutions that will create tomorrow's SUSTAINABLE world.OUR INTENTION IS TO GET A GLOBAL GROUP CREATIVES AND POLICYMAKERS IN THE SAME ROOM TO INSPIRE EACH OTHER AND DISCUSS THE POTENTIAL FOR A NEW PLATFORM FOR INSPIRING VISIONS OF A SUSTAINABLE FUTURE AND THE INNOVATIONS WE NEED TO SOLVE TODAY'S BIG PROBLEMS.

GUEST SPEAKERS:

Jaqueline McGlade, Executive Director, European Environment Agency

Bill Becker, Executive Director, Presidential Climate Action Project

This goal is shared by Bill Becker, Director of the Presidential Climate Action Project in the US and Jacqueline McGlade, Director of the European Environment Agency and they will be joining us to share the visions they have.

We will also be showing an inspirational catalogue of films, from Product Innovation film IDEO, The EEA, The Presidential Climate Action Project and Micro Macro Monde, that start to paint a picture of what these visions could be - which will hopefully inform and inspire a wide-ranging discussion.

What will happen?

·        A screening of a series of short visualisations of positive futures from four different initiatives.

·        A panel discussion of the power of visualisation and how we can proliferate positive images and messages.

·        An open discussion about how we can build the positive and sustainable futures we are seeing.

·        Connecting ‘Ecotopians’ and initiating collaborations to work towards buildings constructive, sustainable and economically prosperous societies.
